About Audio In The Float Tank

The acoustics of a float tank are very different from headphones or speakers and not all audio (especially those with vocals) sounds good when your ears are below the surface. We understand some people may find it helpful to have music so we have curated some tracks for you with samples below to preview before coming in.

Let us know before going back to your room when you want audio and what track you want us to play so it can be programmed in. The audio can not be turned on or off mid-session.

    When to have audio:

Audio at the end only (default)

5 minutes of music at the end of the session only. This is what most people prefer when looking for a pure float experience and the default option. When the nervous system can calm down the rest will follow.

Audio at the start and end

10 minutes of music at the start of the session followed by quiet and 5 minutes of music at the end. This may be a good option if you’re a first timer or need a little help settling in.

    Audio throughout

Chosen track loops for duration of session and then turns off at the end. If you struggle with PTSD, depression or for those who struggle to let go of the busi-ness of the mind and want the audio to transport them this can be a fun option. Floating with audio throughout is a much different experience than without so we suggest waiting until you have a couple floats under your belt before trying.

Most Common Qs Before Your Visit

How early should I come for my first appointment?

If it’s your first time or it’s been a very long time since your last visit and you need reorienting, please come 15-20 minutes early so you have time to watch the intro video. Otherwise, come close to your appointment start time.

Do I need to bring anything?

Come as you are.  Other than a hair brush/comb we provide everything that you need – sandals (byo if you prefer), towels, earplugs, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers are all provided. If you wear heavy makeup we recommend bringing your own facecloth. If your hair is dyed and bleeds in the shower/on your towels please be sure to rebook and wait until your hair is no longer bleeding as the color stains our tanks.

What should I do to prepare?

If you dye your hair, ensure it is not bleeding onto a towel or in the shower. If it does, please reschedule.

In the 24 hours before your float, don’t shave or wax as the Epsom salt solution may sting if you have an abrasion (we provide single use packets of petroleum jelly to cover any small abrasions).  Don’t drink caffeinated beverages for a couple hours before you float, as it may interfere with your ability to relax. Eating a light meal about an hour to 90 minutes prior to your float should alleviate any hunger pains.

    Where do I park?

There’s always parking behind our buidling. Park anywhere back there as it’s shared amonst the businesses in our complex. You can always park on Fleet street out front and right on Pembina Hwy as long as it’s not morning or afternoon rush hour.

We made an easy to follow Map on our Contact Page.

    Should I float with audio?

Before choosing to float with music please be aware that floating in the quiet is what all research is based on. The reduction in stimulus, including auditory, is an important part of calming the nervous system.

Having said that, in our experience, those with PTSD, tinnitus or clinical depression may find it beneficial to float with audio. For those of you who say “I can’t shut off my mind”, the float environment will help you slow it down. Although it may take you 30-40 minutes your first sessions to slow the hamster wheel you will eventually relax into the experience. Trust the process.

We strongly encourage people to have 2+ sessions in the pure float environment before introducting audio throughout a session.

Can I bring my own audio?

No. As mentioned above, the acoustics in the float tank do not work well with all audio tracks and vocals do not transmit well under the solution. We want to ensure people do not unintentionally ruin their experience by choosing an audio track that is incompatible turning floating into a novelty as opposed to a space for healing and insights, which is why we have carefully curated a list of audio tracks below.

How do I cancel or change my appointment?

We do have a 24 hour cancellation policy so if you need to change or cancel your appointment please give us as much notice as possible. If it’s inside the 24 hour window please call us (204) 477-6507

Outside of the 24hr window you can manage your own appointments here by logging into your account.
