All paths lead to calm

An immersive wellness space built around contrast, connection, and calm contemplation.

A unique full sensory experience all under the same roof as Winnipeg’s original floatation therapy centre.

Why Fire & Ice Exists

For more than a decade, FLOAT.Calm has been a sanctuary for inward stillness — a place to disconnect from the noise of the world and reconnect with yourself.

Fire & Ice is the natural evolution of that practice. A Community Contrast Therapy and Vibroacoustic Lounge designed to ground and reconnect you with your senses.

This space was designed as the yang to floating’s yin — a place for sensory engagement, gentle challenge, and resilience through contrast. Heat and cold. Stillness and stimulation. Community and quiet.

Not a spa.

Not a gym.

Not a party.

A self-guided, intentionally designed space where every path leads back to calm.

How Fire & Ice works

No matter when you come, the capacity is kept low so there’s plenty of space if you need it.

Step 1 — Choose your vibe and your tribe

Are you looking for a weekly wellness routine? An inward solo journey to CALM? Reconnect with a friend or partner? Book club, small group, team building event. The Fire & Ice space is designed to be comfortable and luxurious no matter what the occassion.

Step 2 — Book Online

Go to our online schedule and Choose your date to see the Fire and Ice start times. All sessions are up to 2 hours. 4 people can book in at the same time. For larger groups please call us at (204) 477-6507. (For Group booking inquiries please email hello@floatcalm.com here)

Step 3 — Arrive & Settle In

Come about 10 minutes early for your first visit to complete a waiver. Check in, get your own personal caddy complete with a turkish towel and bum mats, grab a pair of grippy socks, store your phone and belongings, change into your sauna / swim attire (if you plan to plunge) and slow down.

Step 4 — Move Through Contrast and Explore

Sauna, cold plunge, acoustic resonance loungers, or quiet lounging — follow your body, not a schedule.

Step 5 — Rest & Integrate

Relax by the fire, sink into a heated vibroacoustic lounger, play a quiet game, or simply enjoy some hot / cold / rest cycles.

Unless specified on the schedule, sessions are self-guided and the space is designed for no more than 4-7 people to be present at a time. So come alone or bring a few friends. Group bookings available.

What's provided:

  • A personal caddy complete with Large Hand woven Turkish Towel to wrap yourself in and mats to sit on in the sauna.

  • Grippy Cozy Socks

  • Guided information booklet to help walk you through the space.

  • Change rooms and lockers

  • Calm, welcoming atmosphere

What to bring:

  • Family-friendly bathing suit or sauna wear.
  • A water bottle (no glass please)

  • Clean sandals and robe if you prefer. (grippy socks provided, plush robes for rent)

  • Optional reading or journaling materials

Better Together: Float + Fire & Ice

Floating quiets the mind.
Fire & Ice builds resilience in the body.

Each service can of course be enjoyed independently.

Many guests choose to float first — turning inward — and then move into Fire & Ice to gently re-engage the senses. Others do the opposite.

There’s no right order.
Only what feels right for you.

Members get exclusive access to “Boost” sessions. These are perfectly timed for before or after a float session.

Who it's for (and who it isn't)

Fire & Ice may be a great fit if you:

 • Want to build resilience, not escape life
• Prefer intimate, quiet spaces over large spas
• Are curious about contrast therapy & ritual wellness
• Want community without pressure
• Enjoy modalities like sauna, cold exposure, sound therapy, meditation, mindfulness practices, breathwork, etc.

Fire & Ice may not be for you if:

 • You’re looking for a loud social sauna
• You prefer fully guided classes only
• You want a traditional spa experience

What our guests are saying

The Experiences

Infrared Sauna

Deep, long wavelength heat designed to support circulation, detoxification, relaxation, and nervous system down-regulation.

  • Large enough for multiple people to lay down in. This custom 10–12 person medical grade infrared sauna is dreamy. Feel the deep penetrating heat from this all Canadian custom-made sauna. Most IR saunas contain components sourced overseas like the heating elements and wood. The wood from this sauna is sourced within 2 hours of the sawmill and the heaters in this sauna as ceramic melted right here at home and output wavelengths of energy similar to that you feel on a white sandy beach. Something we all need a bit more of.

Suggested use: 10–30 minutes

Plunge and Tree Shower

Rinse under the Tree shower (story below). Take a short, intentional cold exposure that wakes the senses and often leads to deep calm afterward. Plunge tempuratures are currently set to 15C. Cold, but good enough for beginners.

  • Suggested use: 1–3 minutes
  • Always optional — listen to your body

Vibe Lounge

We have 3 zero-gravity vibroacoustic loungers combine vibration, heat, and high fidelity audio to stimulate the body and create movement in the cells.

  • 15–20 minute sessions
  • Designed for deep rest, focus, or integration

Lounging & Integration Spaces

Comfortable, flexible, resilient seating designed for rest and reflection

  • Warm your feet on some Himalayan Salt Orbs
  • Play a game in the Fireside lounge
  • Find a quiet corner for reading or stillness

    Books, Games & Gentle Play

Light, analog activities that support presence, connection, and ease.

    • Enjoy the local artwork in the space, meant for gazing and contemplation
    • Two-player Tetris
    • Chess, cribbage, cards
    • Tarot & oracle cards
    • Colouring, stone stacking, curated books
    • Theraguns for self-massage
    • Rent a personal red light panel

      Local Art & Inspiration

,From Day 1 in 2014 we have always had an internal policy to shop local. This wasn’t because of any trend but rather because we see the importance of spending our hard earned dollars with people in our community. (plus it makes them happy). We buy local to Winnipeg and Manitoba first whenever possible. From there we reach out to adjacent provinces, all of Canada and only after we have exhausted those suppliers do we look elsewhere. This includes everything including the Art featured in the space. We are proud to have on display a large collection of inspiring artwork from Danielle Canners, a local Manitoba artist and breathwork practitioner

The Spirit of the Elm (Tree Shower)

        Yes, there’s a tree inside.
And yes — it’s also the shower.

From the beginning, we knew we wanted to bring nature indoors — a place to reconnect with natural elements in the middle of the city. A tree felt right. A rinse shower was essential. Something big and artificial didn’t.

Then the idea clicked: what if the tree is the shower?

This elm is local to the neighbourhood. It once lived just down the road outside Grant Park Mall, offering shade and shelter for years before being carefully reclaimed, kiln-dried, and installed by a local company that gives fallen elm trees a second life.

We like to imagine that the spirit of the elms once surrounding our building found its way inside — carried through the earth’s underground information network, the mycelial web — and rooted itself here instead.

It’s no longer living, but it brings life to the space. A grounding touchstone between heat and cold. A sensory pause. Water, wood, and contrast meeting in one moment.

        Common Inquiries

        u

        What is Fire & Ice?

Fire & Ice is an intentional contrast therapy wellness space designed to gently challenge and restore your nervous system through heat, cold, sound, light, and rest.
Unless specified on the schedule, it’s a self-guided experience that invites you to move between stimulation and stillness—helping your body reset, your mind quiet, and your resilience grow.

        u

How is Fire & Ice different from Float Therapy?

Floating is a deeply inward experience—quiet, weightless, and still.
Fire & Ice is more outward and sensory, engaging the body through contrast, temperature, vibration, and community presence.

They’re different paths with the same destination: Calm.
Many guests love combining both on the same day or on different days for a balanced yin (Float) and yang (Fire & Ice) experience.

        u

Can I combine Fire & Ice and floating in one visit?

Absolutely! They’re different paths with the same destination: Calm.
Many guests love combining both on the same day or on different days for a balanced yin (Float) and yang (Fire & Ice) experience.

        u

Is Fire & Ice guided or self-guided?

Fire & Ice is largely self-guided, allowing you to move through the space at your own pace.
Clear signage, gentle prompts, and optional audio experiences are available to support you if you’d like structure—but you’re always free to listen to your body and choose your own flow. For example, you can have a completely dry visit, meaning you don’t have to use the cold plunges at all if you choose not to.  You can sauna and vibe till your hearts content.  Choose your own adventure each and every visit.

Our team is nearby if you have questions or need help.

        u

Do I have to use the cold plunge?

        Not at all.

Cold immersion is optional and always done by choice. Some people love it, others ease in slowly, or some skip it entirely. You can have a completely dry visit and just sauna and vibe till your hearts content.  Choose your own adventure each and every visit.

Fire & Ice is about contrast and awareness—not pushing your limits. You’re encouraged to participate only in what feels supportive for you that day.

        u

How long is a Fire & Ice session?

Fire & Ice sessions are typically 120 minutes giving you plenty time to explore multiple elements without feeling rushed.
Members also have access to shorter 60-minute Boost sessions, which pair perfectly before or after a float or as a quick reset on its own during a busy day.

        u

How many people are in the space at one time? Am I by myself or with others?

Fire & Ice is intentionally small and intimate. 4-7 people at most.

The space is designed to host a small limited number of guests at a time, helping maintain a calm, quiet and respectful atmosphere without the crowds or noise of larger spa environments.

        u

Is Fire & Ice safe for beginners?

Yes. Fire & Ice is beginner-friendly and designed for a wide range of comfort levels.
You’re always encouraged to start slowly, listen to your body, and take breaks as needed.

If you have specific health concerns, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before participating.

        u

What should I wear, and what do you provide?

You’ll want to wear family-friendly bathing suit or sauna wear for sauna and cold plunge use. If you don’t want to plunge and get wet you can have a dry only experience.

We provide towels, bum mats, and access to lockers for your personal belongings. We do provide grip socks but you can bring indoor sandals or slides for comfort, though the space is designed to be barefoot-friendly.
